1939 Penguin Special ( S41 ). First printing of this edition. The wrapper is clean and bright. It is unclipped. It is scuffed at the leading edge on the back panel and there is a small chip out of the bottom edge on the front panel. The spine is sunned and lightly rubbed at the ends. The book is fresh, bright and tight. The front and back covers are bright, clean and sharp. No fading. The spine is very slightly soiled and very lightly bruised at the ends. The pages are clean, though the text block is – inevitably – browned at the margins and closed page edges. No foxing. The binding is tight. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. An attractive copy.
